Dr. Mahesh was awarded the prestigious Lionel B. Goldschmidt prize for his qualification as a consultant urologist (cum laude). He later earned a master's degree in urology. The European Institute of Telesurgery, in collaboration with Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, France, provided additional laparoscopic training. He frequently conducts robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomies (RALP) and is also a certified Da Vinci Robotic Surgeon. The Van Blerk Medal for Outstanding Research Paper has also been awarded to him.
