RAK Medical and Health Sciences University is committed, through its offering of academic programs in the medical and health sciences fields, to prepare graduates who are able to develop critical skills in their practice and application of knowledge, equipping them with practical & clinical skills and knowledge and enabling them to make a valuable contribution to patient and health care as individuals and as responsible members of society.
RAK Medical and Health Sciences University, Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), has been established by the Ras Al Khaimah Human Development Foundation (RAK–HDF) under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member & Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and, Chancellor of the University. RAK-HDF is a joint venture of Ras Al Khaimah Government, Al Ghurair Investments and ETA Ascon Group, Dubai.
All the programs viz MBBS, BDS, BPharm, BS Nursing and RNBSN have been granted Initial Licensure and Accreditation, by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UAE. While the RAK College of Medical Science (RAKCOMS) started its programs (MBBS) in 2006, the RAK College of Dental Science (RAKCODS), RAK College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (RAKCOPS), RAK College of Nursing (RAKCONS) started their programs from September 2007. RAKMHSU is the first comprehensive University in the entire UAE. Yet another milestone has been added in the year 2011 by getting the accreditation for the Masters Programs in both Nursing and Pharmacy, again first in the country.
In the year 2009, January, RAKMHSU shifted from its old campus to the brand new Campus adjacent to Saqr and RAK Hospitals. The University building has state-of-the-art facilities meeting international standards. The campus offers all the required facilities to cater to all its program including Library, Anatomy Dissection Hall, Skills Laboratories, Computer Labs, Lecture halls, Demonstration Rooms, an Auditorium, Gym and a Play ground. Separate hostel facilities are provided for male and female students. Student visa is also provided.
The first batch of both Medical and Nursing (both BS Nursing & Bridge Programs) graduates have been conferred the degrees during the impressive Convocation Ceremony held on 29th of September, 2011. RAKMHSU is getting ready for the final Accreditation of its programs.
RAKMHSU has established itself as a reputable University with more than 535 students from 40 different nationalities, and 81 full-time faculty and 66 Adjunct Clinical faculty supported by 65 Non-teaching staff from 22 countries.
RAKMHSU is taking all the steps to deliver quality Healthcare Education thereby, striving hard to produce Graduates who are competitive as well as compassionate.
