The Dubai Sports Council is the official organization in charge of the growth of the sports industry in the Emirate. It was established on November 30, 2005, by an order from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Dubai. Through programs and activities intended to raise awareness of the value of sport and physical activity and to make it a way of life for the community, the Council actively promotes physical activity in society, particularly among women and children. It also oversees the operations of Dubai's seven local sports clubs.
