About Us

Founded in 1977, Bahwan Engineering Group (BEC), is the flagship of the Suhail Bahwan Group, one of Oman's foremost business houses. The Group's unflagging penchant for evolution has helped it emerge as one of the largest engineering construction groups in Oman. From a larger perspective, it has firmly placed the Sultanate in the global arena. The sky's the limit now.

For over three decades, the BEC has been associated with nation-building projects, ushering change not only in Oman but in the UAE too. Its core values of synergy, excellence and commitment have enabled BEC to successfully execute numerous projects to exacting standards, and literally change the face of the industry as a result. It is this commitment to change that has helped BEC emerge as one of the largest engineering construction groups in the Sultanate.

BEC, today, executes integrated multi-disciplinary construction projects under one umbrella, involving civil, mechanical, electrical construction, elevators and escalators, diesel power generation, trading in electrical and mechanical products and facilities management services in Oman and the UAE. With more than 12,000 employees, including 600 engineers, the BEC group has established itself as the leader in integrated construction projects in sectors such as Oil, Gas and Power Projects, High Voltage Transmission and Distribution projects, Airports, Hotels, Hospitals and Commercial-Residential Complexes.

Description

Major engineering contracts for high-profile projects, such as Oman LNG (Train I & II), Qalhat LNG (Train III), Sohar Seawater intake and return system, Sohar Power & Desalination Plant, and the Sohar Fertilizer Plant, Marmul Polymer Flooding among others, attest to BEC Group's growing reputation as the country's premier engineering contractor.

A consortium of Bechtel, Enka and Bahwan Engineering company has been selected by the Oman Ministry of Transport and Communications to engineer, procure, and build a new passenger terminal complex for the Muscat International Airport. BEC is proud to be with the team with the highest quality offer, the best value for Oman's investment, and the most competitive plan for delivery of this key national infrastructure project.

The new terminal building will cover a total area of approximately 350,000m2 and will have a total capacity of 12 million passengers annually. The scope of work also includes two forecourt office buildings and an associated plaza, two five-level parking garages, additional surface parking, access ramps and roads, and several other associated buildings.

The Company has been operating in the UAE since 1995 with the construction of the Greenfield DEWA substations followed by two large power projects, the Al Aweer station and Jebel Ali 'D' station at Jebel Ali. BEC debuted their M&E project execution doing the works at Fujairah power plant and carried on with the M&E works for a large residential complex with 7 multi-storey buildings and a hotel on Palm Island on the Dubai coast.
