The RCSI has been providing leadership & management training for health professionals in Ireland and internationally for over twenty five years and established the Institute of Leadership in 2005 to bring together various activities in this area. The RCSI has educated leaders in the health professions for over 220 years and the Institute of Leadership is now building on this tradition by educating the healthcare leaders of tomorrow. As Ireland's only third level institution dedicated exclusively to developing the leadership & management competencies of health professionals, the Institute has grown rapidly with over 500 students currently registered on postgraduate programmes in leadership, management, quality, patient safety and organisational development.



The mission of the Institute is to improve healthcare through the development of excellent leadership & management competencies of health professionals and their organisations. While the Institute is an academic institution, it maintains close connections with the world of healthcare delivery and its programmes are characterised by flexibility, speed of response, customer service and a blended learning approach that allows health professionals to undertake learning while continuing their work. The Institute has bases in Dublin, Bahrain & Dubai. Programmes are also delivered in Abu Dhabi, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar & Saudi Arabia.

The Institute of Leadership provides Academic Programmes, Short Courses and Consultancy in knowledge and information management and our priority research interests are in patient safety and quality, healthcare management, leadership, and postgraduate education.



Our degree programmes are part-time, inter-professional and modular and delivered using a blend of distance and classroom education. We offer a range of accredited postgraduate diploma and MSc programmes in leadership, professional development, healthcare management, quality and patient safety. The Institute has bases in Ireland, Bahrain and the UAE and also provides training in Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
