Al AIn National Museum

Established in 1970, it consists of 4 pavilions; the first displays the social life of the Emirati national from birth to death, and the second showcases archeological pieces discovered in Al Ain and other cities of the UAE.

The third pavilion represents petroleum operations as an important part of the oil breakthrough in the life of Emiratis. The fourth, however, features the gifts given by the presidents and kings of Arab, Muslim and European countries to H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sutan Al Nahyan, after he approved placing them in the museum.

Al Ain Museum reflects the history of the Emirati national. It displays pieces showing that the person who had lived in this land for thousands of years has been able to build a great civilization. He has been aslo able to take best advantage of the difficult circumstances facing him and, at the same time, communicated with the world. There are granite pieces that date back to 5000-6000BC and that were discovered in Al Ain and other cities. There are also finely-made scrapers and spearheads, and decorated pottery imported from Iraq and found in tombs dating back to 3200-3700 BC. The museum also includes fine pottery, stone pots, and copper articles found in a mass tomb in Al Hili, and Umm Al Nar which date back to the second middle of 3000 BC. There are necklaces, collars, axes, and other tools, some of which were locally made, while others were imported from foreign countries, which establish the strong bonds connecting the UAE with the world for thousands of years. The archeological department includes various articles that date back to the Stone Age and that were found in tombs and residential settlements. They include large cuds, pottery, and stone pots. Bronze bracelets and anklets were famous in 1000BC, which proves that the Emiratis used to make jewelry thousands of years ago.
